Mother's Day - a day for political and social mobilization

The idea of setting aside a special day to honor our mothers is certainly not new. But did you know the special history of the day in the US was related to feminism and the peace movement? Carla Goldstein, Director of the Omega Women's Institute in New York and board member of Friends of Women without Borders, explains the roots of Mother's Day in the USA and highlights the most important women's organizations working to improve the status of women today. She also mentions SAVE's innovative event, Mothers MOVE, which focuses on the potential of mothers to form an early-warning system against terrorism.
